This type of lettuce will usually succeed well even during hot weather when nearly all other lettuce will bolt to seed. Forms an erect plant with tightly folded light green leaves of fine quality with a crisp sweet heart.
SOWINGSow seed outdoors as early as the ground can be worked. Plant in rows 18 inches apart spacing seeds 1 inch apart in the row. Cover seed with inch of fine soil, well pressed down. Keep soil moist until plants start to grow.
THINNINGWhen plants are 3 to 4 inches tall, thin to 6 to 10 inches apart.
GERMINATIONGerminates in 7 to 10 days depending on soil and weather conditions.
REMARKSAs heads develop, cut every other one to allow others to develop. For continuous supply, plant every few weeks throughout the season.
