Brigadier General Edward Sylvester Bragg was a notable figure during the American Civil War, serving with the 6th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment of the Union Army. Born on February 19, 1834, in Plymouth, Wisconsin, Bragg graduated from West Point Military Academy in 1857. He saw action in various significant battles throughout the Civil War, including the Battle of Shiloh, Vicksburg Campaign, and the Battle of Chickamauga. Post-war, he played a role in the pacification of the American West as part of the Indian Wars and continued his military career until his retirement in 1894, attaining the rank of Major General.
